A Day at the Beach

Oh yes, Canada has beaches. The area I went today was called The Beaches and it is a beautiful and rich area in Toronto. The lake outlines the  horizon and creates for a lovely scenery. Water sure has a way to make a landscape nice to look at. My two girlfriends and I casually walk along the boardwalk until we find a place to spread our towel and blanket. We sit in the shade and enjoy the humid air. It’s summer in Toronto, finally! One friend is complaining about it. I can see her cheeks getting rosy from the sun. She wasn’t dressed appropriately for this hot temperature. But who is to blame her? You can never know what the temperature is going to be like. We sit and talk, sandals off, toes wiggling happily. In the lake, I could see people on kayaks and jet skis enjoying the water. People don’t often go in this water but today it looks clean. Some people are jogging, rollerblading or biking along the trail. Although it was pouring in other parts of the city, it’s sunny and hot here. Boys, correction, Men is the topic of discussion- as we watch them run with shirts off and others enjoying a game of frisbee, also shirtless. But who’s looking. In fact, we see one sitting on the bench behind us playing his guitar, again no shirt. It is a hot day and this is the place to strip if needs be. The other topic is about my journey to jamaica. It just keeps coming up- no matter which circle of friends I’m with. Needless to say, there still hasn’t been a dull moment while reminiscing on this journey.

We didn’t have fish and festival while at the beach, something I would have done in Jamaica- instead we had a crusty slice of pizza from a restaurant called, Pizza Pizza and coca cola in a cup. Normally Pizza Pizza is good, but goodness it seems as if we’re eating leftovers from the day before. Not as satisfying as Jamaica, but we can’t complain. We’re in  Canada, one of the best countries on earth.

This was certainly an enjoyable day. And it also started on a good note too. I went out for breakfast with another girlfriend. Bobby’s hideout was the name of the restaurant. I chose omelette and home fries with toast on the side. Not bad for my first day off. The day started well and ended well. So Canada comes with all kinds of experiences. It’s also vast in the kinds of activities that can be done here but it is to be expected from a large country. While I may not be able to hop and skip to a beautiful beach with white sand- as lovely as those in the Caribbean, we still have small beaches to be enjoyed even in the city- and if you’re willing to drive a couple hours, there are still others that can be enjoyed. This country doesn’t lack in any activity or experience.
